Paletwa is now awake and its towners express their feeling of being connected to the world as over a two-month internet blackout ended on September 1.

Many people took social media to show their gratitude and informed friends, families, and relatives that Paletwa has been once again alive as the data connection has been restored.

As per the government’s instruction, four telecommunication companies on June 20 shut down internet services in Paletwa township and eight townships in northern Rakhine State, where intensified clashes between AA and Tatmadaw had taken place.

Internet blackout created several problems for NGOs, governmental departments and society as a whole, a Paletwa CSOs member said.

As of September 1, Paletwa along with four townships in northern Rakhine State regain internet access.
